During last week’s SDPA Annual Summer Dermatology Conference in Austin, TX, the Dermatology PA Foundation (DPAF) officially announced the launch of the Foundation’s new website and throughout the week conference attendees, Foundation Trustees, and partners were encouraged to make donations at the onsite DPAF booth.
We are thrilled to announce that that more than $14,500 was collected at the Summer Conference! In fact, during our first few weeks of being officially online, the DPAF has collected a total of $16,621! A special thank you to everyone who donated, and especially to our SDPA State Affiliate Chapters in Georgia, Florida, and Illinois who met the DPAF’s challenge and each donated $1,000. Visit the “Donors” page to see a complete list of contributors.
Every dollar we raise helps to support the Foundation and increases our ability to provide outreach and support to the dermatology PA community and to improving the lives of dermatology patients in need. Just prior to the Austin conference, the DPAF committed to contributing to a number of worthy causes that align with our mission and vision. Below is an update on our planned philanthropic programs and giving for 2016:

Programs Your Donations will Support:
Inaugural DPAF Silent Auction: The DPAF will hold its inaugural silent auction at the SDPA’s upcoming 14th Annual Fall Dermatology Conference this November in Las Vegas. Our plan is to have this as a recurring event at future conferences that supporters can participate in either during the conference or from afar online. Our fundraising goal for the silent auction is $20,000. Funds raised during the auction will be used to send children with dermatological disorders to special summer camps and dermatology PAs to staff the selected camp(s).
5th Annual Miles for Melanoma 5k Run/Walk 2016: Formerly held and organized by the SDPA prior to 2015 when the DPAF was formed, the Foundation will host its second Miles for Melanoma Run/Walk the 5th Annual Run/Walk during the SDPA 14th Annual Fall Dermatology Conference in Las Vegas. The DPAF is challenging conference attendees and SDPA members to raise $7,500, or more, to help us meet the fundraising goal for the Run/Walk. In honor of the Melanoma Research Foundation’s (MRF) 20th Anniversary, and to commemorate the DPAF’s launch, the Foundation will match dollar-for-dollar up to $7,500 of donations and contribute that to the MRF to support their work.
Camp Discovery: The DPAF will continue the SDPA’s philanthropic support of the American Academy of Dermatology’s Camp Discovery. The Foundation’s Board of Trustees voted to contribute $3,600 to ensure that two campers have the opportunity to attend Camp Discovery in 2016. Camp Discovery offers children living with skin diseases a one-of-a-kind experience they might not otherwise be able to participate in.
Although we’re touched by the overwhelming support and generosity we’ve received in our first few weeks, we hope that support won’t stop there. Continued donations will help us grow and have a greater impact on the communities we serve. Spread the word and be sure to contribute. Every dollar helps!
When you contribute at the Chairman’s Circle Level in 2016 you will be honored as a Founders Circle member of the DPAF for as long as you donate at that level. Learn more about our donor levels and how to donate here.
