Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) Skin Cancer Screening

October 28, 2023

DPAF made a tremendous impact in Nashville! The Inaugural Skin Cancer Screening was well-received by the community and many TN DermPAs™ stepped up to meet the demand. Thank you to the generosity of the Melanoma Research Foundation, Neutrogena, and SKLIP, and of course, the DermPAs who volunteered their time to make this happen.

Free Skin Cancer Screening
at Nashville

Regular skin cancer screening is crucial for early detection and successful treatment. It helps identify suspicious skin changes, allowing timely intervention and reducing the risk of complications. With the increasing prevalence of skin cancer, routine screenings are essential for proactive health management and prevention.

DPAF recently hosted their inaugural skin cancer screening in Nashville which benefited the local community. The screening was open to the public and hotel employees on Saturday, October 28th, from 8-12 noon and it was a continuous flow of people, and skin cancer was diagnosed during the event which the patient was unaware of, a referral was made to be seen and treated. "Providing a free service and skin cancer education can have an effect on a person's life, as many people do not have the time or resources to see a dermatology provider. We made a huge impact on the community that day," states Renata Block, Chair of DPAF. Plans are underway for San Diego and talks of expanding the service by offering a Dermatology Health Fair to the public so that people are more aware of skin diseases beyond the screening.

DPAF is already planning for San Diego, so Cali DermPAs™, if you are interested in volunteering, don't hesitate to get in touch with rblock@dermpafoundation.net or fill out the participation interest form.
